Live Database

Databases in XLServer are classified as Live Databases or Clone Databases.

Live Databases​

  • Discovered when an environment is added.
  • Initially known but not managed until linked.
  • Linking a database:
    • Creates a Golden Image Copy (full backup) in the datastore.
    • Allows attaching backup strategy for protection.

Protection​

  • Attach a Backup Strategy to:
    • Take continuous incremental backups.
    • Update the golden image.
    • Create new snapshots.

Recovery​

  • Restore from snapshots and logs.
  • Complete Recovery or Point-in-Time Recovery.
  • Fast Recovery option uses the updated golden image without restore.

Live databases are project-specific and follow project permissions.
